PAOLO CORIANI
Lute - Maker

My guitars are built with woods that are carefully selected from among the best used in the construction of guitars and are crafted personally by me: red Spruce, Canadian Cedar and Sitka Spruce for the soundboards, Rio Rosewood, Jacaranda and Indian Rosewood for the ribs and backs, Honduras Mahogany or Center American Cedar for the necks, African or Indian Ebony for the fretboards. The woods are all naturally seasoned for at least 8 - 9 years. I work on two lines of instruments. The first is an experimental research guitar, of my own personal design, constructed according to the most recent theories and constructions techniques, and is in constant evolution.
The second is a more traditional guitar, built following the classical models of the great Spanish maestros of the late XIXth and XXth centuries. Even though I use highly inovative techniques and materials all my guitars are rigorously finished with French polishing.
